Which measurement is bigger?
The recorded length of Airbus A380 is 2.168 times the recorded length of Blue whale. The selected measurements are 72.7 m and 33.5 m, respectively.
| Object | Metric size | Imperial size | Dimension |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue whale | 33.5 m | 110 ft | length |
| Airbus A380 | 72.7 m | 238.5 ft | length |
What this comparison measures
A long whale and a passenger aircraft are shown using the same metres-to-pixels scale. The aircraft dimension is overall length, excluding the quite different wingspan.
Blue whale: Up to 110 feet for Antarctic blue whales; an upper size, not a typical adult.
Airbus A380: Overall fuselage length from Airbus’s published technical figures.
The drawings use the same physical scale, but are simplified illustrations. They show a selected linear dimension rather than mass, surface area or volume. The space between objects makes the comparison readable and does not represent a real-world separation.
Inspect the sources
Both measurement sources are linked below the interactive board. The individual Blue whale entry and Airbus A380 entry provide the selected conventions and related objects.
